The Importance Of Being Earnest

Our next play, Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest', is now open for auditions! 

Audition Location:

Auditions will take place at Theatre 44, located at 189 Wills Street, Broken Hill, NSW 2800

Date:

Thursday 7th of May, 2026

Time:

6:30pm

All characters are open for audition, and open to non-traditional gender roles, particularly for Lady Bracknell who has been played by both women and men.

If you're interested but can't make it at that particular time, please let us know and we can make arrangements.

The characters:

John: 20 to 40 - Posh, nervous disposition

Algernon: 20 to 40 - Posh, irreverent

Gwendolen: 16 to 35 - Posh, refined

Cecily: 16 to 35 - Well brought up but a bit wild

Lady Bracknell: 30+ - Elite, confident, commanding

Miss Prism: 30+ - Prim, skittish

Rev Canon Chasuble: 25+ - Proper, serious

Merriman, Butler: 25+ - Not many lines, but an important role with a lot of body language. Dower.

Lane, Manservant: 30+ - Not many lines, but a great deal of dry wit. Sarcastic.

Performance dates: 16th to the 19th of July, 2026.
